Before I got into this line of work, I spent 11 years in a line of work where, in emergency conditions, I had to carry out and/or give orders where there was no time for explanations. It made me sensitive to: making sure I knew why I was telling someone to do something, making sure I was extra careful if I didn’t think the one giving the orders knew why, and providing rationales for people when time permitted. I have little patience or respect for those who give orders in non-emergency situations, particularly without understanding why.
Why r u process inflexible and immutable?
Because… Well, just because. 🙂
yup…when their eyes get that deer-like look as soon as you say “why”, you know it’s a case of “just following orders”
Yours is not to ask why, it’s to do or die.
Aye, aye Sir!
